Two poets from Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters took part in hosting the closing ceremony of the summer training students for 2012 at the Al Mafraq Hospital on Sunday morning.

The poets, Major Nasser Al Neyadi, Head of the Drivers Licensing Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Licensing Department, and First Lt. Hamdan Al Daraei, Head of Media security Department at the Technical Affairs and Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, recited a number of national and social poems that witnessed a great response from the audience.

The poets also presented a number of individual and dual poems in a unique poetic experience among local and Arab poetic experiences.

The ceremony began with a poem titled “Story of a Nation” where the poets shed light on the establishment of the UAE in its various development stages, down to the present day. Both men used some of the most beautiful and finest phrases to describe “the Story of a Nation” in verses such as:

We swear to God, to keep the promise
We swear to God, that we won’t have other than our homeland
We swear to God, to our nation and to our Khalifa, as long as we shall live
To sacrifice our lives, to protect our country,
Our dignified ruler; your wishes are our command
We will burn and bury attackers who dare
Our beloved Khalifa, son of Zayed, to you we owe
Loyalty that men show their leader in dark nights
With your might, you ward off humiliation
Yes, Father of Rashed Mohammed, you are as sharp as a sword
The homeland’s shield; the faithful Mohammed Abou Khaled
Leaders of the country have become its protective armor
Yes, our supreme commander, we are forever faithful to you
We will be ready to fight hazards and give our lives
We are content to be distinguished from the rest of the world
They call us: Zayed’s Arabs, and towards us, heads turn

Both poets went on reciting their well-thought elegant poems, which contribute to spread societal awareness messages with a witty and humorous style. They also presented a poem titles “the Zayed Daughter”, through which they showcased the Emirati women’s deep attachment to original customs and traditions; their keenness to acquire knowledge and to achieve the finest local and international positions and ranks.

The Abu Dhabi Police poets concluded the ceremony with a poem dedicated to His Highness, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, titled "Watchful Eyes", including some of the following verses:
Homeland is a responsibility, we owe it to ourselves to protect
And we are the watchful eye to safeguard this precious gift
We are your soldiers and your humble servants
We are keen to keep our promises
And just like the Great Wall of China protects China
To our homeland, we are this protective shield
You only need to ask, our dear beloved commander, and we will deliver
For us, nothing is impossible or difficult
In the face of difficulties, we are a double-edged sword
A sword of justice, and another against treason and infidelity

Abu Dhabi Police’s participation in this event establishes the deep social partnership and community outreach.

At the end of the 2012 summer training ceremony, the Al Mafraq hospital administration honored the poets, Major Nasser Al Neyadi and First Lieutenant Hamdan Al Daraei.
