Gulf Traffic Week festivities are still in full swing in Al Ain and Al Ghabia, as the Abu Dhabi Police Department of Traffic and Patrols, represented by Al Ain Department of Traffic and Patrols, launches an ambitious traffic awareness initiative targeting sports audiences at Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club. This initiative comes in line of the “Together to Reduce Traffic Accidents” campaign organized by Abu Dhabi Police in celebration of the 28th annual Gulf Traffic Week.

Major Mohsen Saeed Al Mansouri, Head of Al Ain Department of Traffic and Patrols, said that the festivities and educational awareness programs focused on sports audiences at Al Qattara Club, by interacting with the players and audiences to spread traffic awareness among them as they constitute an important part of society.

“The festivities also focused on a show for the traffic awareness patrol in the playground aiming at distributing publications, as well as shirts bearing the Traffic Week logo to the players. We also introduced the Traffic Awareness Patrol and its role in spreading a culture that abides with traffic laws, thus ensuring the safety of all road users from traffic accidents.”

First Lieutenant Hamdan bin Dhebian, Acting Director of Public Relations at Al Ain Traffic Department, stated that the department is always keen on communicating effectively with all other departments, governmental entities and private institutions; thus activating a positive participation of Traffic Department personnel in social occasions and festivities. The aim is to spread an active traffic culture to reduce damages resulting from accidents, where the Department of Traffic and Patrols showcased the Traffic Week logo, as well as traffic accident pictures on screens set up outside in all corners of the club, and on the club’s official website and “Zaim El Emarat” forums.

On another note, ADP Department of Traffic and Patrols, represented by Al Gharbia Traffic Department, carried on its introductory activities at Tamm Center regarding the objectives of the “Together to Reduce Traffic Accidents” campaign launched on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, thus engaging the public more and more on traffic safety issues.

Major Suhail Sayah Al Mazroui, Head of Al Gharbia Traffic Department pointed out that Traffic Week festivities in Al Gharbia included exhibitions, introductory programs at City Center, ADNOC gas stations and Al Dhafra Cooperative Society, as well as raising driver awareness.

Al Mazroui called on Al Gharbia citizens from all walks of life to join forces with the efforts to counter the dangers of accidents, and the consequently reduce death toll and material damages. This helps realize the “Together to Reduce Traffic Accidents” theme by acting wisely, adhering honestly and sincerely to our laws and regulations which ensure our safety and protect our lives.

Al Gharbia Traffic Department also organized a traffic awareness lecture at Al Tomooh Private School in Al Gharbia, presented by First Lieutenant Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Ali, Director of Traffic Discipline at Al Gharbia Traffic Department. The lecture focused on enlightening students about the objectives of the initiative and providing them with traffic awareness to remind people about the necessity of complying with the laws, using seatbelts, abiding with speed limits and refraining from talking on the phone and texting while driving.

Awareness posters bearing safety traffic guidelines were distributed on students, alongside caps engraved with the program motto, which serve as a constant reminder to the upcoming generation.
