In collaboration with the Department of Human Rights at the Ministry of the Interior, the Juvenile Care Center at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters recently organized a specialized forum under the theme: "well investing my time” at the Police officers Club.  The first day events were dedicated for the Juvenile Care center’s inmates; while the second day events were dedicated for parents.

A number of lecturers took part in the Forum, including: Brigadier Mohammed Saleh Baddah Al Awadi, Director of Media and Public Relations at the Ministry of Interior; Dr Majd Kam-Almaz, consultant in psychology and health director at the International Institute for Psychosocial Development; psychological advisor Dr. Rima Audi from the Juvenile Care Centre and Professor Itidal Youssef, nutrition specialist.

Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed bin Nakhira Mahrami, Director of Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior, emphasized that the Forum "well investing my time” aims to create an appropriate environment for debates to activate the role of youth and family, and to integrate community members with the events of the Juvenile care Center. He added that the Forum’s mission is to prepare young people and their families to invest their leisure time during the summer and the month of Ramadan, in such a way to elevate and improve the family, in the various religious, psychological, health, educational and practical aspects.

During his participation in the Forum, Brigadier Mohammed Saleh Baddah Al Awadi gave an overview of his personal experience in life. He addressed the importance of family agreement and reconciliation, which combine family members; as well as the importance of a good management of the household between the mother and father. He pointed out the need for parents to control their children by choosing their friends and providing advice and guidance to help them choose the right friends on their own.

He added that children may have a secret behavior that does not appear in front of family members, hence the need for parents to befriend their children and communicate with them through dialogue and discussions, to avoid ominous consequences and mistakes, which may put families in a world of trouble and destroy the future of children.

Brigadier Al Awadi stated that raising children and caring for them has become a difficult task in light of the technological openness, globalization and modern developments. He called on parents to be role models for their children, to prevent them from falling into error and help them build their personality. He also stressed the need to refrain from entrusting the education of children to nannies and housemaids.

For his part, Dr. Kam-Almaz provided guests and parents with a number of scientific and psychological methods on how to deal with children; he also addressed the close relation between the heart, the mind and thought, and how to invest the heart to ensure the health of our psychological and family life. Professor Itidal Youssef provided a number of nutritional counseling, highlighting the importance of food and nutritional planning during the Holy Month of Ramadan, for both the inmates and their families. The Forum also referred to the need for religious sanctions between children and parents; while Fatima Mosbah Al Dhaheri, Arabic teacher, discussed the theme of "the ego" and its importance in our lives.

For his part, Lt. Col. Ahmed Abdullah Kharraz Zaabi, Acting Director of the Juvenile Care Centre in Abu Dhabi Police, said that the Forum "well investing my time” is part of the youth preventive program, "I elevate my country” that took place on July 4- July 19 in sync with the Al Ain Police Officers Club and the Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center.
