The Al Ain Traffic Institute Division at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police will start an educational program next week targeting Al Ain Municipality personnel. This program is part of an educational initiative executed by the Traffic and Patrol Directorate, under the traffic and security campaign launched by the Police Operations General Department under the title ‘Your Safety.’
Captain Salem Ali Al Kutobi, from the Traffic Institute, stated: “The program focuses on setting up a number of lectures on risks of using damaged tires, and also aims to educate drivers on traffic laws and regulations, especially during long road trips.”
The institute recently held an educational lecture that benefitted 500 employees at the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (AWQAF) in Al Ain. The lecture is part of the awareness activities carried out by the Directorate every summer.
In his lecture, Captain Al-Kutobi said: “Some people endanger their lives and the lives of others when buying used or worn tires and driving overloaded vehicles, which turns the car into a ticking time-bomb, particularly on road curves or when speeding.”
He urged the audience and drivers in Al Ain to check the validity of tires on their vehicles, and to be aware of risks of tire explosions during long trips. He added that due to summer heat, tires tend to wear because of the roads’ high temperature.
He also asserted the need to follow the correct instructions to guarantee tire safety, such as choosing the appropriate tire and size; temperature and load control as well as checking the date of manufacture.
Captain Al-Kutobi added that this advice falls in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategic initiatives to reduce accidents and enhance traffic culture among drivers throughout the year. “The advice complements the tire awareness efforts exerted by Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, in order to spread traffic security awareness, and present advisory tips that will help drivers,” he concluded.
