Al Shaabia Police thwart suicide attempt

 

Police personnel from ADP GHQ Al Shaabia Police Station persuaded a Filipina, identified as (A.M., 3o), working as Sales representative for one of private sector companies, to give up  her suicide attempt after quarrelling with her compatriot husband, on Monday. She tried to jump from a balcony of the tenth flour of one of residential buildings on Al Falah (Al Jawazat) Street.

Colonel Ibrahim Sultan Al Zaabi, Director of Al Shaabia Police Station, said “As soon as the Operations Room was informed about the attempt at 04:30 0n 13/12/2010, a patrol from the Station comprised the Duty Investigation Officer and a number of policewomen elements rushed to the scene and made great efforts to persuade the woman to change are mind and quit this wrong decision”.

“A quarrel erupted between the Filipina and her husband and could not reach a compromise. She found no other way for her but to commit suicide and end her life, until the arrival of the police patrol who calmed her down and persuaded her to quit the idea. Then they took her and her spouse to the Police Station and reconciled them”, added Al Zaabi.

“ADP police undergo training of high level in dealing with the public, handling different social situations and dealing with different nationalities and types of people. Their handling of the case under hand has prevented occurrence of a disaster”, added Al Zaabi.

He has affirmed that ADP is keen to play its humanitarian and preventive role, especially in emergencies which require quick action.
