Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, headed the UAE delegation to the 33rd session of the Arab Interior Ministers/ Council that commenced today in Tunis. The session was officially inaugurated this afternoon by Tunisian President Mohamed Beji Caid Essebsi.

Upon his arrival to the airport in the Tunisian capital, HH Sheikh Saif was greeted by the President’s representative, Minister of State, Al Azhar Al Chebbi; H.E Al-Hadi Mejdoub, Tunisian Interior Minister; H.E Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Kuman, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers; H.E. Salem Isa Qattam Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Tunisia; along with a number of senior officials.

The session will tackle a number of important topics, notably reports about the achievements made by the Member States with respect to the different Arab strategies; the Arab strategy for combating terrorism, the Arab strategy to combat the illegal use of drugs and psychotropic substances, the Arab strategy for traffic safety, the Arab strategy for Civil Protection (Civil Defense) in addition to the 15th annual report for follow-up of the Member States’ implementation of the Arab Convention against terrorism.

His Highness Sheikh Saif was accompanied by a delegation that includes Advisor Rashid Salim Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretariat General of the Federal Demographic Council; Brigadier Jumaa Hamel Al Qubaisi, Brigadier Dr. Rashid Sultan Al Khodr, Vice President of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, and a number of officers.
