The Excellence Department at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior recently organized a workshop to brainstorm the fundamentals and methods to nurture creativity and innovation, as well as the mechanisms and ideas required to develop the Minister of Interior's Excellence Award.

Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior stressed that creativity and innovation are amongst the main pillars for developing institutional work within organizations and are key to ensuring both continuity and endurance. “This workshop underscores the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to boost innovation out of its belief in nurturing the creative ideas of its staff members,” he said.

For his part, Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the Ministry of Interior, said: “The workshop was designed to develop and propose innovative and creative initiatives according to the Ministry of Interior’s 2017-2021 strategic plan. This is achieved by involving staff members and collecting their views, in line with the wise leadership’s announcement of 2015 as the year of innovation in the UAE. It also aims to mark the launch of the fourth generation of government excellence system, which aims to improve government action, on the basis of innovative standards”.

In his address during the workshop, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Ali Al Ghafli, Head of the Organizational Excellence Department at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development, indicated that creative thinking and innovative proposals know no boundaries. “We must endeavor to promote high-level creative thinking,” he reiterated.

A total of 65 executive staff members and participants took part in the workshop; alongside the winners of the third edition of the Minister of Interior's Excellence Award. Participating also included an elite group of innovators from the Ministry of Interior. The workshop included five brainstorming sessions that tackled various ideas to develop the Award’s system and the development proposals for the award’s fourth edition, so as to keep pace with the fourth generation system of broadband mobile communications.

Upon conclusion of the workshop, a number of key challenges, solutions and development ideas were reviewed, and were unanimously approved by all of the attendees.
