​Abu Dhabi Police has raised awareness of the dangers of smoking on the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day, which falls on May 31 annually, through awareness workshops and lectures.The activities included a lecture organized by the Anti-Narcotics Department in Al-Ain, affiliated to the Anti-Narcotics Department in the Criminal Security Sector, on the harms of smoking and how to get rid of it in cooperation with the Czech Hospital in Al-Ain.Brigadier General Taher Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, Director of the Directorate of Narcotics Control in the Criminal Security Sector stressed the importance of protecting children, youth and adolescents from the scourge of smoking, pointing to the main role of the family in this aspect by introducing them to the many harms caused by smoking and urging them to practice useful hobbies, especially sports in all its forms, reading and other hobbies that Refine their personality and develop their creative talents.In a speech within the event, Lt. Col. Dr. Salem Obaid Al Ameri, Acting Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department in Al Ain, expressed his thanks to the medical staff of Al Tachki Hospital for their efforts in implementing the initiative.The hospital staff gave an awareness lecture on the harms of smoking, explaining that smoking is one of the most important problems that affect health in general, and that it not only affects the smoker, but also has negative effects on the health of those around him. The lecture warned against passive smoking, especially in front of children, explaining that it carries The same risk as for non-smokers.The Quality and Excellence Department, in cooperation with the Medical Services Department and the Training Department, held an awareness workshop entitled Quit Smoking through the Remote Communication Technology, in the presence of a large number of Abu Dhabi Police employees, with the aim of educating the affiliates and reminding them of the dangers and harms of this negative habit and refraining from it.
