Abu Dhabi Police has warned families that students are setting up virtual groups on WhatsApp and social media sites to practice bullying towards their colleagues to the point where they have reached verbal violence and the use of profanity in the absence of parents and censorship.
Student groups had been established for the purpose of studying remotely but often departed from their main objective of engaging in such unacceptable negative behaviours that led to abusive and unacceptable practices.
ADP urged parents to step up surveillance of their children, especially during the current period requiring precautionary measures to cope with the emerging CORONA virus and stay at home, calling for them not to be distracted and to protect them from the dangers of online extortion and abuse.
Brig. Gen. Mohammed Suhail al-Rashidi, director of the criminal security sector, called for strengthening efforts to protect children from the dangers of cyberbullying, and to inform them of the steps to report these cases with the help of their families and parents, as well as their responsibilities, the most important of which is to care for them and protect them from verbal, physical and moral violence, and not to leave them without constant family control.
He stressed Abu Dhabi Police's interest in protecting children and protecting them through the preparation of awareness programs, initiatives and lectures to support victims of bullying, addressing the loss of confidence, guilt and anxiety, and increasing aggressiveness and rehabilitation through psychologists and social workers.
Brigadier General Imran Ahmed Al Mazrouei, director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Investigations, warned of the dangers of cyber bullying remotely among students, pointing out the need to activate the role of the family and raise children in healthy conditions away from violence and tyranny and enhance self-confidence, as well as urged parents to build friendship with children from a young age and communicate with them and follow up on different behaviors.
