Abu Dhabi Police has launched an awareness campaign to enhance the safety of bicycles users within the scope of work of the Abu Dhabi government traffic Safety Committee.
Major General Ali Khalfan Al dhaheri, director of the central operations sector, said the campaign was attended by a number of competent authorities: the department of transport, the Department of Health and the Abu Dhabi sports council, represented at the Abu Dhabi bicycles club, with the aim of establishing awareness and preventing bicycle users from accidents, and introducing them of the regulations and laws on road safety and its users, The campaign is carried out by the Abu Dhabi police departments of the central Operations sector, the Department of Community policing in the Community security sector, and the Department of Security information in the leadership Sector.
He said the campaign will see a range of community and media events and activities that promote awareness of the protection of the (riders) from potential hazards, follow the correct behaviors to reduce accidents, and clarify the wrong practices while moving bicycles on the road and motivate them to drive in the tracks allotted to Them.
Al Dhaheri praised the efforts of the Government of Abu Dhabi and its interest in stimulating the movement of tourism and sports in an attractive environment that contributed to the increasing popularity of cycling sport, increasing the numbers of its users, for sporting and health purposes and light mobility or Recreation.
