Abu Dhabi Police has revealed that some 48,000 pedestrians have been caught and violated for dangerous crossing of the road from places designated for crossing in 2019 in Abu Dhabi, putting themselves and other road users at risk.
It stressed that the security and safety of pedestrians is an important strategic priority for Abu Dhabi Police, and urged drivers to pay attention to traffic and pedestrian traffic on different roads, and to commit to reducing speeds near places for their transit and industrial areas, and on the internal roads of residential neighborhoods, and giving them preference in transit.
It commended the ongoing efforts in coordination with the partners, namely the Department of Transport, the Department of Urban Planning and municipalities, to improve traffic safety conditions, the construction of several bridges on internal and external roads, and the construction of light-controlled surface corridors. The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols intensified field awareness through the implementation of field visits to labor cities, where workers are located in industrial facilities in Abu Dhabi as part of the campaign "Path of Safety", and places of agricultural workers on the roads, to spread preventive traffic awareness among them, and to explain to them that crossing the road without allocated places is considered a violation of its fine of 400 dirhams.
