Western region police ready for water sports festival in Al Marfa
The Western Region Police Directorate has put the last touches to its preparation for taking part in the Water sports Festival to be hosted by the western region city of Al Marfa.
The festival which includes a variety of new water sports begins tomorrow Thursday and will last for nine days, with the participation of professional athletes from around the word.
Brigadier Hamad bin Terais Al Dhaheri, director of the Western Region Police urged all participating police bodies to establish and achieve the strategic goals in line of the strategy set forth by Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.
He called on all visitors and participants to cooperate with security agencies and apply safety measures pertaining to those who practice water sports, thus preserving their own safety and the safety of spectators.
The preparations included approval of security plan, and maintaining of safety and security of participants and members of the public.
The traffic plan has also been approved. It involves securing the roads leading to the festival location, the internal roads and VIP and public car parks, entry and exit procedures and maintaining smooth flow of traffic.
As part of these preparations, Brig Al Dhaheri was briefed on the awareness book of the festival which will be distributed to the public in order to upgrade their awareness level concerning safety measures to be observed at the beaches.
The program includes lots of completions in various sports including kite surfing, surf ski kayaking, sailing boats, beach football and volleyball in addition to light photography contests. The Al Marfa Corniche will also witness several entertainment activities such as camping and music concerts.
The directorate is seeking to communicate with the people of the region and visitors coming from different parts of the country as well as from abroad.
