UAE Rescue Team carries out its tasks in 10 ruined sites in Sumatra
The UAE Rescue Team carried out its tasks in ten site completely destroyed by the earthquake on the Indonesian Island of Sumatra. They were able to recover some dead bodies from rubbles and wreckage which other teams could not do, because UAE Team was well- trained and well-equipped.
According to Lt. Colonel Mohammad Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of Emergency and Public safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police, UAE Team has availed its experience in coordination with other teams to assess the effect of the disaster on remote areas. This expertise enjoyed by the Team is due to the attention given by HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy prime Minister and Minster of Interior, and his keenness to raise ADP efficiency.
Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Risi, Director General of Central Operation at ADP asked about the Team safety as another 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit an area 3300 km from the location of the UAE Team. Lt. Colonel Al Nuaimi, during his continuous contacts with ADP confirmed that all Team members are safe and the team was linked with ADP GHQ Operations Room for following up of any developments. The UAE Team performance attracted local media in Indonesia.
