The community Police launches the summer project “My vocation” 

 

ADP Community Policing Department has launched the project “My Vocation”. It is a summer training programme to attract studens in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Educational Zone with the participation of 110 secondary and preparatory schools. They are deployed as follows: 20 students at different police stations of the Capital Police Directorate, 30 students at the Peripheral Areas Police Directorate, 40 students at Al Ain Police Directorate and 20 students at the Western region Police Directorate.

Lt. Colonel Mubarak Awadh bin Meheiroom, Director of the Community Policing Department said “The summer training programme is part of ADP GHQ strategy to assist our youth in investing their leisure time during summer vacation in acquainting themselves with the tasks and nature of police work”.

The activities of the programme kicked off last Sunday, July 4, and will continue up to July 15. The students will visit during this period a number of ADP GHQ Departments in Abu Dhabi: The Social Support Centers, Department of Emergency and Public safety, Department of Security Inspection, Police Dogs Section, Civil Defence Department, Traffic and Patrols Department, Scene of the Crime Department, Passports Section and the Capital Police Directorate.

The same programme will be implemented at Al Ain, the Western region and Peripheral Areas Police Directorates, under Community Policing Department supervision. The programme also includes recreational and educational trips to Al Samalia Island and the Police Officers Club in Abu Dhabi.

The aim of the programme is to attract a number of students to train them in summer work at the Community Policing Department to prepare them for future careers. ADP GHQ is one of the leading government institutions which play a key role in building a safe and stable community and present to different community segments to enjoy secured life.

The project also aims to educate students on their rights and duties, and how to protect themselves against different types of crimes. Educating students, preparing them to meet labour market requirements and building a balanced character able to bear responsibility and to achieve communication between students and labour agencies in the future is one of the key objectives of the programme.

The participating students have visited the Department of Emergency and Public Safety to learn about its tasks and duties and to undergo training in the services it delivers to the public. Al Khaldiyah Police Station and the Community Policing Unit at the Capital Police Directorate (CPD) have prepared a one week programme for the students. They have accompanied the students to different police stations of the CPD to allow them to learn about the tasks and services delivered by these police stations. Then they have visited the Scene of the Crime Village at the Police College, Civil Defence Center at Al Batteen and Anti-Narcotics Section.
