The Law Respect Culture Bureau lectures at Kerala Social Center in Abu Dhabi

 

The Bureau of Law Respect Culture at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior has organized, in collaboration with the Police College and the Human rights Department, an educational and social seminar at the Kerala Social centre in Abu Dhabi, to introduce the rights and duties of laborers.

Lt. Colonel (Dr.) Salah Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau, Lt. Colonel (Dr.) Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Lecturer of Special Law at the Police College, Lt. Colonel (Dr.) Jasim Al Aantali, Lecturer of Criminal Law at the Police College and Major Ahmed Al Mazroui, Head of Internal Coordination at the Human rights Department participated in the seminar. The book of “Labors Rights and Duties” was distributed to the audience.

Lt. Colonel (Dr.) Al Ghoul delivered the key introductory lecture supported by TV show. He explained the rights and duties of laborers in line with the UAE laws that comply with the country constitution. The audience responded enthusiastically to the lecture.

Al Ghoul said “The book ‘Labors Rights and Duties’ is intended to enhance law and public order respect culture in the community in accordance with a strategic vision based on dissemination of awareness and law respect. The laborer needs to carry the book with him all the time as a reference to remain under law umbrella”.

“Understanding of the book contents is the basis of freedom and justice, which allows the development of individuals and community in full. It spreads awareness among community members and shows their rights and duties towards their community, and the country rights and duties towards them”, added Al Ghoul.

“The UAE is keen to protect and guarantee human rights, whether they are citizens or residents. Therefore, its keenness on laborers, especially foreign ones, is more and greater. Article (20) of the constitution,;’ The community appreciates work and seeks to provide it for the citizens and qualifies them for it, introduces legislations that maintain the rights of employees and employers, in the light of developed global labor legislations’. Article (34) of the constitution stipulates ‘No work should be imposed on anybody other than exceptional circumstances stipulated by the law, provided that is to be compensated. No body should be treated like a slave’”, added Al Ghoul.

The laborer rights stipulated by the constitution and law of the UAE and all international legislations and conventions necessitate that his existence and residence in that country should be legal and in accordance with the country laws. Any violation of these laws bring him before the law and he will be exposed to exploitation by others due to his illegal status and thus he will lose any rights stipulated by law.

The laborer should be aware of all rights stipulated in his work contract he has signed with the employer. Ignorance of what is stipulated in the contract is not an excuse as long as your signature is appended on it.
