Organized by the Law Respect Culture Bureau at the General Secretariat of the Office of His Highness, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Ramadan Council on Law Culture discussed a number of issues related to the concept of public and general freedoms.
Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief, and a number of members of the Federal National Council and scholars, guests of His Highness, President of the UAE, attended the meeting.
Lt. Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau, at the Ministry of Interior said: “through these seminars and Ramadan Councils, the Bureau seeks to spread legal awareness among different segments of society, including individuals and institutions, especially with respect to the issues they face on a daily basis; using scientific and highly efficient expertise in this field.”
Sheikh Dr. Al Qasabi Mahmud, Dean of Arabic Language Faculty at the Al Azhar University and Member of Islamic Research Council in Egypt, discussed the concept of freedom in Islam, noting that the Almighty Allah has honored human beings, and that the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) respected all people and stressed the importance of respecting and recognizing their human dignity. He added that people must respect each other’s feelings and to recourse to dialog.
For his part, Dr. Baker Zaki Ibrahim, Dean of Foundations of Religion Faculty in Al Azhar University said: “the mental capabilities of a human being start shaping at birth, through means of perception. He noted that every individual is influenced by his family’s behavior in all areas, thus confirming the words of the Prophet that: “"No child is born except on the fitra and then his parents make him Jewish, Christian or Magian.”
He added that: “while growing up, a human being starts gaining knowledge, which should be aligned with the Quran and the Sunna, in order to develop righteous thinking. The Quran lays the foundations of building this mindset through verses that encourage the individual to not follow others blindly, and not to follow suspicious and distorted thinking.”
Dr. Ibrahim Al Muraikhi, Undersecretary of Appeal Court in Bahrain said: “to go astray means to go far from righteousness, which is deemed as a bad behavior,” explaining that going astray can be behavioral, doctrinal, social and familial.”
Furthermore, Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, stressed the importance of such seminars and scientific councils related to legal aspects, noting that their role is significant in increasing the levels of awareness among community members.
He said that intellectually depraved individuals always try to distort facts and show a different image of reality. Such individuals think that they are the only ones who know the truth, and that everyone else is wrong.
He called on the public to use their own judgment in what they read or hear, stressing that there are a number of institutions within the community, dedicated to address such negative thinking in a scientific manner and according to a clear methodology.
Member of the Federal National Council, Hamad Al Rahomi, discussed the legislative and regulatory role of the Federal National Council, in cooperation with legal and executive authorities, noting that the Council has made big achievements as per its mandate.
Dr. Muna Al Bahr, member of the Federal National Council tackled the reasons for intellectual depravity, pointing out that it is caused by several reasons, notably the excessive pampering of children by their families.
