The 3rd International Conference on Cyber Crime opened
Under the patronage of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the 3rd International Conference on Cyber Crime (Procedural Aspects) was opened by Dr. Hadif Jouan Al Dhahiri, Minister of Justice yesterday (Tuesday). The Conference is organized by the Institute of Training and Judicial Studies in collaboration with ADP GHQ, at the Emirates Palace Hotel.
According to DR. Al Dhahiri, cyber crimes pose great security threat on government and private organizations. Some of them fall beyond the judiciary powers of countries as they are cross-boundary crimes. The law Number 2 for the year (2006) is to face the risks of negative use of information technology. This conference reflects UAE keenness to entrench the principle of secure community.
Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Risi, Director General of Central Operations at ADP GHQ, has stated that the Ministry of Justice was the first government organization that linked electronically with Abu Dhabi Police. Abu Dhabi Police coordinates with the largest private sector companies in this field such as Microsoft and Modern Secure Systems and other companies to learn about the latest information technologies.
The Conference is attended by a large number of judicial body members, officers from MoI and ADP. A number of working papers were presented on the first day of the Conference.
