Study on master's programmes begins at the Police College
A class on master's programmes, after the College has got academic recognition, has started with 46 students studying “Criminal Justice” and “Police Administration”.
Colonel Saif Ali Al Kitbi, Director General of the Police College, during inauguration of two masters’ programmes, said “The academic recognition achieved by the College confirms its continuous efforts to develop training and education process, through using modern curricula and portfolios, which suit policing requirements and technological development in all areas’.
During his tour to class rooms and progress of education process, said “The College is keen to implement MoI strategy and the directives of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in respect of achievement of quality and excellence in different policing areas. He has urged the master's programme trainees to spare no effort in their work and to seek excellence. He has wished them every success”
In the same context, Colonel (Dr.) Abdullah Mohammad Bu Hindi, Director of Higher Studies said “The design of master's programmes curricula integrate with MoI objectives and requirements. The recognition includes two programmes: (Criminal Justice) and (Police Administration). The academic year is divided into two semesters. Since introduction of Higher Studies Department, in accordance with the Ministerial Decision number 372 of 2009, the work goes on to achieve aspirations of our police leadership. A regulation including admission conditions, duration of study, system of study and examinations, in addition to the distribution of categories and credit hours have been set up’.
“The study duration is two academic years. The first year is divided into two semesters, each of 16 weeks. The learners in the second year will prepare their master’s theses. They study three days each week during evening period, i.e. 4 hours each day. The learners will receive different theoretical subjects, in addition to English language and applied scientific researches”, added Bu Hindi.
“The Department of Higher Studies, through the masters programmes, will contribute to promotion of MoI employees efficiency, providing them with new knowledge and modern sciences to enable them to bear their responsibilities, establishing deep intellectual background and vast base of administrative, policing and criminal knowledge, in addition to instilling the base and methodologies of scientific research, strengthening ties with security and criminal scientific institutions and universities at GCC States, regional and World levels. The first batch consists of 46 learners from MoI, ADP GHQ officers, a number of Directors general, directors of departments of different ranks”, added Bu Hindi.
The learners at masters’ programmes have expressed their happiness with returning back to class rooms. They thanked the police leadership for providing opportunity of achieving academic qualification for master's degree.
Brigadier Faris Khalifa al Farsi, Director General of establishments Protection at ADP GHQ, one of the learners, has expressed his happiness with his return to class room and with joining the first batch of master's degree studies. He hopes that there will be PhD recognition at the Police
