To mark the UAE’s 42nd National Day, the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior, and the UAE’s Journalists’ Association organized a public celebration on Wednesday evening at the Association’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The ceremony featured national, traditional, and artistic performances that reflect feelings of love, belonging, and loyalty to the Nation. The celebration commemorates the Union’s march and the overall development witnessed by the UAE in all fields.

The celebration began with the National Anthem, and then the video clip of the poem titled “Al Zaeem Al Falahi” was screened by the audience. The clip is a gift from the MoI to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on the occasion of the UAE’s 42nd National Day. The “Kheir Al Hai” Folklore Band entertained journalists and media figures with artistic traditional performances praising the UAE National identity; poems were also recited during the ceremony, expressing happiness on this precious occasion.

In his poem, Poet Habib Al Sayegh, Chairman of Emirates Writers Union paid homage for the Nation and its wise leadership; praising the country’s countless international achievements in all fields; particularly the UAE’s victory in bagging the right to host the “World Expo 2020”.


Abdullah Shaheen, Press Branch Manager at the Security Media Department led the music band’s takht ensembles, which performed a number of songs from their oriental repertoire, as well as traditional musical pieces from the UAE, the Gulf region, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Egypt, which were highly acclaimed by the audience.  The performances were dedicated to the Emirati people on their National Day.

The show also featured performances by famous Jordanian artist Fares Shaheen, Syrian Maestro Mohammad Abdul Raheem, and famous Jordanian composer Sobhi Dawood.

Mohammed Yusuf, Chairman of the UAE’s Journalists Association, stated that the winning the right to host the “World Expo 2020” in Dubai adds to the joy of this year’s 42nd National Day celebrations.  “This epic win exemplifies the country’s achievements, and reflects the world’s trust and appreciation for these achievements,” he noted.

Adding further, Yusuf said: “Marking the establishment of the Union is a national duty that strengthens the feelings of affiliation; it is also an invitation for the successive generations to recall the greatness of this nation. A nation that was built thanks to the insight and unstinting efforts of the founding father and renaissance builder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God have mercy upon his soul) and his brothers, their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates who materialized the idea into one of the most distinguished experiences of this modern era for decades.”

Chairman of the UAE’s Journalists Association stressed that His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and his brothers, their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates have followed in the same path of development and progress, proving to be worthy successors to the best predecessor. He noted that the Emirati people enjoy the blessings of development and prosperity under their rule.
