Saif bin Zayed launches “Will Programme”
to care for and employ persons with special needs
HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior has announced the launch of the “Will Programme”. The aim of the programme is to provide work opportunities for people with special needs. The programme will be implemented in coordination with government, semi government and private organizations at Abu Dhabi Emirate.
HH has confirmed that the introduction of the programme is a continuation on the steps of the late HH Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the care he used to pay to UAE citizens. The initiative is also in response to the directives of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of UAE and his keenness to provide every support to this category of UAE nationals.
Sheikh Saif has stated that 403 of people with special needs have completed courses in secretary, computer use and maintenance, and electronic designing and other studies.363 persons of the above number have been employed in suitable jobs in government and private institutions.
Ministry of Interior’s rehabilitation and Employment Centers have extended their contacts with several interested parties to promote work opportunities for those with special needs. Some government and civil entities have offered their preparedness to build a partnership of cooperation for setting up small projects for people with special needs. The programme of small projects was introduced in id 2008. These small projects include typing and photocopying offices, a bookshop for selling stationary a shop for selling gifts boxes. This programme will assist in merging people with special needs into UAE labor market.
