Saif bin Zayed honors teachers
who saved children from burning bus
HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior has confirmed our leadership’s keenness to honor heroic acts by community members whether they are citizens or residents.
HH honored two female teachers from Delhi Private School at Sharjah and honored them for their heroic act. The two teachers Ranjana Tijani and Peria Mahtiru assisted in rescuing the pupils of their school when their school bus caught fire while they were on way to visit Sharjah Scientific Museum. They could get the kids out safely from the bus. No one of the kids was hurt.
The bus caught fire when collided with a car when the bus driver tried to turn the bus to enter the museum. The car hit the rear of the bus and the fuel tank burst which started the fire in the bus. Civil defence and police officers ran to the site of the accident a few minutes after the accident. Rescue police team was led by Lt. Salim Al Khusooni.
According to Lt. Colonel Ahmed bin Darwish, Head of Patrols Operations Department at Sharjah Police stated that the bus driver was one to be blamed for the accident as he had not paid enough attention to the vehicle behind him before moving from the middle lane to the outside lane.
Director of the school Wandana Marwaha appreciated HH gesture of honoring the two teachers of the school for bravery. She confirmed their school’s keenness to train their staff on how to react in such cases.
