Saif bin Zayed approves project
for Analyzing road accidents electronically
HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior reviewed an advanced project that will be introduced into 12 traffic patrols in Abu Dhabi in the coming months which will also be introduced in Al Ain and Western Region. They will be linked to an advanced database at ADP GHQ.
HH was briefed about the project by Lt. Col (Engineer) Husain Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of Traffic and Roads Safety Engineering and Manager of the project. The project was described as great and the first of its type by HH. It would ease pressure in the main operations room.
The system integrates several technologies such as GIS, GPS and analysis and evaluation of roads network performance level. According to Mr. Al Harthi, the system components include Accidents data gathering and Analysis Unit, Quantitative and Qualitative control of Traffic Size Unit and Operational Analysis of Traffic Flow Unit. The system would assist traffic police to gather, analyze and classify traffic accidents data through a mobile electronic system and computer, and forwarding information to the database at the Headquarters, for further action.
