Road collision kills 1, injures 20

 

The driver of a bus that was carrying Jordanians passengers died, while 20 passengers sustained various injuries in collision.

The accident took place at 09:30 am on Saturday when the bus collided with a truck on the Abu Dhabi- Al Ghuwaifat Road, around 141 kms near to Al Marfa.

Head of Traffic and Patrols Department of Western Region, Major Ahmed Abdullah Al Shamsi said that the accidents resulted in serious injuries to two people who were transported by air ambulance to Zayed Hospital for treatment. Two children and their father were also sent to Khalifa Hospital. One of the two children, 3-year old, sustained compound fractures in the thigh bones, while the other child sustained a fracture in the nose. Their father suffered from breathing troubles.

The driver of the bus was sleepy during driving and hit the truck on its back; he lost control, skidded to the right side and hit the palm on the road side.
