HIS HIGHNESS Sheikh Saud bin Saqer Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, attended on Thursday morning at Al Sawan Shooting Range in Ras Al-Khaimah the wrap-up ceremony and final competitions of the 30th Annual Police Shooting Championship. The event was organized by the Police Sports Association and hosted by the General Headquarters of Ras a Al Khaimah Police, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqer Al Qasimi. 11 teams, representing Ministry of Interior general headquarters and departments, participated in the competition which kicked off on January 21st. HIS HIGHNESS awarded the tournament trophy to the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters team who came first with 137 points.

The event was attended by Lieutenant General Saif Abdullah Al Sha'far, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Khalifa Harib Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Support Services at the Ministry of Interior, and Advisor Abdullah Salem bin Nasra Al Ameri, head of Police Sports Association, in addition to other general directors and heads of departments.

The activities of the final day started with the semifinals competitions of discs shooting, which qualified the teams of Sharjah Police General Headquarters and Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters to the final round. This was after Ras Al-Khaimah team beating Ajman Police General Headquarters team, and Sharjah team over Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters team. Following the final round, the winning teams were, Ras Al Khaimah first, Sharjah second, Abu Dhabi third and Ajman fourth.

The finals of the Move and Shoot competition took place during the same event. Abu Dhabi Police team was placed first followed by Sharjah team in the final round, and Ajman coming third.

Following the completion of the competitions, HIS HIGHNESS Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, accompanied by Lieutenant General Saif Abdullah Al Sha'far and Abdullah Salem bin Nasra Al Ameri, awarded the winners and handed the trophies and prizes to committees who participated in organizing the event, and to winning teams. Police Sports Association granted a commemorative gift to HIS HIGHNESS Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

He noted that HIS HIGHNESS’s patronage of the event contributed to the success of sports championships in general, and to the championships organized by the Ministry of Interior in particular.

Al Sha'far added that the Police Sports Association’s Annual Police Shooting Championship comes in line with the guidelines of Lt General His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior stressing the importance of mastering skills and developing the potential of the ministry’s staff by organizing numerous programs and events. He congratulated the winning teams and expressed his great relief for the success of the 30th edition of the competition at all organizational and competition levels. He underlined the importance of such tournaments that represent a solid ground for national teams to achieve excellent results at regional and international levels.

Abu Dhabi Police Receives Tournament Trophy

Following the final rounds of the competition, Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters team was announced the grand winner with 137 points, followed by Dubai Police General Headquarters team with 115 points, and Sharjah Police General Headquarters team with 105 points.
