Lt. General Saif Al Sha'far, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior has inaugurated Tuesday morning meeting of the Interior Undersecretaries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which kicked off at Yass Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
 
The meeting is held in preparation of the 30th meeting of interior ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which will be held next Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.

In his opening speech, Al Sha'far welcomed the GCC officials in UAE and conveyed the greetings of H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and his wishes for the success of the meeting.

He said: our meeting is held during extremely delicate circumstances which the Arab region in general and our gulf countries in particular are passing through.  He stressed the need of GCC countries to act collectively and cooperate to confront these challenges firmly and fulfill the aspirations of the leaders and the people of GCC member states in pushing the process of stability and prosperity toward more integration and mutual assistance.

He noted that the agenda of the meeting includes many security issues awaiting appropriate recommendations to strengthen the process of joint security work and achieve the aspirations of the leaders and the people of the GCC.

He also stressed his confidence that the meeting will bring forth recommendations achieving the desired goals and take appropriate decisions on all the topics to be submitted before GCC Ministers of Interior at their next meeting in Abu Dhabi.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the GCC Secretariat General for its huge efforts which led to present successes.

This important meeting is held in a time where we are all required to unify systems, positions and administrative structures of security agencies in GCC member states to deal with the incidents and changes our region is witnessing, said Lt Colonel Suleiman Fahd Al Fahd, Acting Interior Undersecretary in sisterly State of Kuwait in his speech in the inaugural session.

For his part Brigadier Hassan Eissa Al Samim, Acting Interior Undersecretary in sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain pointed out that this meeting is held in extremely significant circumstances, which we all need to exert huge efforts to push the wheel of the joint gulf work.

 “The meeting is an important step to affirm our joint desire in boosting cooperation in accordance with unified strategic foundations”, he further stated.
Brigadier Hamad Ahmed Al Muahanndi, Director of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Interior in sisterly State of Qatar expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the UAE for hosting the meeting, wishing everybody success.
 
Then Colonel Hazza Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Secretary- General for Security Affairs delivered a word in which he expressed thanks and appreciation to the UAE Minister of Interior Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for hosting the meeting, and to Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, for the good preparations.

After that, participants held a work session where they have discussed the recommendations brought forth by the specialized security committees related to enhancing cooperation among GCC member states in all security domains. Also a number of topics related to drug combating and different criminal phenomena have been discussed.
In addition, several appropriate recommendations have been reached and will be submitted before GCC minister of interior meeting.
