Police officers' children summer programme concluded in Al Ain

 

Lt. Colonel Mohammad Suhail Al Rashdi, Deputy Director of Al Ain Police Directorate for Stations Affairs witnessed on Monday the closing ceremony of the one-month summer programme, at Al Ain Police offices Club. 55 students aged 8 to 13 participated in the programme. The ceremony was attended by Lt. Colonel Harib Khamis Al Kheeli and a number of officers. 

The event started with reciting verses from the Holy Quran. Then Lt. Colonel Al Kheeli said in his speech "The programme is within ADP GHQ efforts to protect students from delinquency during their long summer vacation".

"As ADP GHQ strategy focuses on the principle of crime prevention, this programme has been organized to allow students to spend their leisure time in religious, cultural and sports activities, which are useful for them and for the community. The large number of participants indicates that parents are keen to see their children involved in activities that protect them from bad and reckless behaviour", added Al Kheeli.

He extended his appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the programme. At the end of the ceremony Lt. Colonel Al Rashdi accompanied by Lt. Colonel Al Kheeli gave away shields, prizes and certificates of appreciation to the participating parties, trainers and students.

On another occasion a group of Summer Centres’s "Our Summer is Distinguished" male and female students paid a visit to Al Maqam and Al Jimi Police Stations in Al Ain, as part of their programme to acquaint themselves with the tasks and duties of these police stations.

They were received by Lt. Colonel Salim Khalfan Al Shamsi, Director of Al Maqam Police Station who lauded the efforts of Abu Dhabi Educational Council to solve the problem of leisure time of students during summer vacation. Then the students toured the Sections and Branches of Al Maqam Police Station.

Lt. Hamad Al Dhahri, Director of Community Policing Branch at Al Jimi Police Station received the students' delegation. He explained to them the role and objective of community policing in maintaining community safety and security. He affirmed that Community Policing was an important development in the traditional role of policing.
