Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqer Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the 30th Police Annual Shooting Championship has started this morning, "Monday", at the Ras Al Khaimah shooting range with as many as 800 shooters, of both sexes, participating.

The sport event, to continue until next March 1st, is organized by the Police Sports Association, Ministry of the Interior, and hosted by the General Headquarters of Ras Al Khaimah Police

Brigadier Mohammed Al Noubi, deputy commander of Ras Al Khaimah Police has fired the first shot, marking the opening of the competition along with a number of senior officers of the Ministry of Interior.

The championship includes a number of competitions: the rifle and pistol shooting contests for men and women, shooting at discs, and “move and shoot” contest.

Al Noubi welcomed the players and the administrative and technical team members, confirming that the championship offers a good opportunity for all shooters to improve their skills by exchanging field experiences with their colleagues especially those who had previous regional and international participations.

He reaffirmed the RAK Police’s welcome to host the event for three consecutive years, adding that the Ministry of Interior is providing all forms of support and attention to the sports sector, which makes it important for the personnel to translate this support into sports achievements.

The opening ceremony was attended by Colonel Abdul Malik Mohammed Jani, director of the Police Sports Association, Ministry of the Interior, and a number of senior officers from various police headquarters as well as heads and members of the participating teams.

The first day of the competition has witnessed the “move and shoot” contest, with the participating teams divided into two groups and competed in 28 games.
 
The team of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ led its first group and won the first place. While the team of the special security forces came second.

The team of the General Headquarters of Sharjah Police came in the first place leading its second group, followed by the team of the General Headquarters of Ajman Police as runners up.

The Team of Abu Dhabi Police will play the team of Sharjah Police to compete for the first place on the final day.


Police Sports Association seeks tirelessly to make this event a great success, said Colonel Jani. This championship is one of the most prominent championships ever organized by the Association on the local level, he added. Participants will avail the event to gain the required expertise so that they are able to take part in the outside sport occasions.
