Police and community Beach Championship kicks off in Ajman

 

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Aamar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, the 3rd Police and Community Beach Championship will kick off next Sunday. The Championship activities will continue until 21 October 2010.

The Championship is organized by the MoI Police Sports Association in collaboration with the Directorate General of Ajman Police. It includes beach football, beach volleyball, tug of war competition and road race. Schools students and community members, nationals and residents will participate in the activities.

Brigadier Ali Abdullah Alwan, Director General of Ajman Police and Chairman of Organizing Committee thanked the Higher Leadership for sponsoring Championship activities.

He lauded the higher leadership directives to provide all requirements of the Championship in order to make a success of it. He said this during the press conference organized by the high Committee of the Championship at the Directorate General of Ajman Police, in the presence of Colonel Sultan al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of Ajman Police, Colonel Abdullah Ibrahim al Manaai, member of Police Sports Association and a number of officers and High Committee Members.

The Championship comes within the framework of boosting communication with police and community to instill stability and security. The High Committee has formed a number of Sub-committees to prepare and arrange for the Championship success. He has invited the public to participate in the Championship. The Championship will start on the tenth of this month and will continue for twelve days. A vast space of Ajman beach has been allocated for the Championship activities.

Colonel al Manaai said "This Championship is part of the Police Sports Association strategy which seeks big participation by large sectors of the community in single and group sports. It is aim is to enhance communication with the public, to raise sport standards and to develop sports talents".

He has expressed his thanks to the Directorate General of Ajman Police for hosting the Championship. He has wished all participants every success.

Lt. Colonel Aarif Al Araiss, Head of Activities and Sports Competitions at the Police Sports Association, during the press conference, has presented a detailed explanation of the competitions which will take place and the roles of their Sub-committees. The Championship is open to all Emiratis and residents. It consists of four games, as stated above. Participation in the Championship is free of charge. People can register through a phone call at MoI web site on the internet. Winning teams will get valuable prizes and financial prizes and gifts will be distributed to the public.

The conditions of participation in beach football competition are: each team should consist of ten players including the goal keeper. Each team consists of five players inside the playing field one of them is the goal keeper. There should five resrve players. The competition will follow the system of two groups if the number of participating teams is eight. If the number of participating teams is more than eight, the competition will follow the knockout system. The match will consist of three rounds. If the match ends in a draw the winner will be decided through penalty shoot-out, three kicks for each team.
