Over Dh30m fetched by special number plate auction in Abu Dhabi
The total amount fetched by the auction of special number plate organized by ADP GHQ in collaboration with Emirates Auction at the Emirates Palace Hotel, on Saturday evening, was Dh30m. The total special number sold was 81, including one, two, three, four and five-digit number plates.
Brigadier Salim Ali Al Shamsi, Director of ADP GHQ Department of Privatization and Resources Development said "The auction which was organized by ADP and supported by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and the Emirates Palace Hotel under the slogan (Special number for special goal).As the revenues would go to many charity and humanitarian projects, the attendance was rather high".
He lauded the interest shown by citizens and residents in such events which would serve charity and humanitarian projects. AS such they could get their favorite number plates and contribute to a noble goal.
The strong competition between bidders led to registration of a number of records on top of which was the one-digit number plate (9), which was sold for Dh10m. The two-digit number plates (19) was sold for Dh3,050,000 and (77) was sold for Dh3,300,000 and five-digit number plate (11111) was sold for Dh1,500,000.
Ahmed Ahli, who won the bid for the number (9) number plate, expressed his happiness for winning the number. He said "The new season of auctions promises a strong start which may witness braking of many records. He also lauded the well organization of the auction and special numbers offered to the tastes of bidders".
A number of participants lauded the efforts made in the auction and the use of technology and magnified photo and sound used which increased suspense and excitement among bidders.
Ahmed Khoori said "The beginning of the new season of special numbers auction was characterized by enthusiasm among bidders to get the numbers".
Salim Khalifa, Badr Mohammad Al Zaabi, Obeid Rashid and Nasser Sultan indicated that this beginning was an indication of a boom in special number plates sale and a good economic induction, in addition to humanitarian projects which the auction support.
