The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters augments its website content in line with its participation at the Ministry of Interior’s pavilion at GITEX Technology Week 2012. Primarily focusing on the services provided to customers, comprehensive information has been added to each of its more than 100 services.
The online services include new systems and programs related to police work making it the most innovative site of its kind.
First Lieutenant Mohammed Khamis Salem Al Junaibi highlighted that the website focuses on the public’s requirements providing them with information on the Abu Dhabi Police’s services in an accurate, professional, and seamless manner.
First Lieutenant Al Junaibi noted that developing and updating the Abu Dhabi Police’s website is in line with the measures undertaken by the police leadership in all areas including its transition to e-government.
Moreover, Al Junaibi explained that the new site has been developed in accordance with the best web design international standards, and as per the e-government, international, federal, and local standards and practices.
He pointed out that the website recently acquired the E-governmental Shield Award, which is in its third edition, for being among the best strategic websites in the category of Security and Military Institution Websites. The award was granted by the Arab Organization for Administrative Development of the League of Arab States in partnership with the Arab Web Awards Academy in the region.
Al Junaibi stated that the Abu Dhabi Police was keen to provide easy browsing options and clear content; the website classifies the services according to its customer classification (individuals, governmental bodies, corporations, and police members), or by highlighting the services most commonly used by visitors. This system makes it significantly easier for customers to access the information directly from the homepage. The website also highlights the locations and communication channels available for the public to contact the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.
Furthermore, he stated that the homepage was designed to highlight the full range of services provided by the Abu Dhabi Police; whether e-services or otherwise. Other electronic applications have been added such as the extensive photo gallery.
Visitors to the Ministry of Interior’s pavilion in the Sheikh Saeed Hall can get acquainted with the Criminal Investigation Department, represented by the Cyber Crime Branch. The branch is providing awareness messages on cybercrime and its many forms. First Assistant Ahmed Abdullah Al Jasmi explained that internet users must be extremely cautious while surfing the web to avoid being vulnerable to cybercrimes.
He called on the public to download software solutions on their computers, laptops, or smart phones to protect their privacy and the confidentiality of their information.
First Assistant Al Jasmi noted that cybercrimes have multiple forms including piracy, threats, online harassment, theft of bank account information, and theft of online credit cards as well as the spreading of viruses.
He urged users of instant messaging software not to add or accept unknown persons, to regularly change their PIN number, not to upload personal photographs on their display window, and to turn off their device's camera.
Al Jasmi said that some people fall prey to fraud via e-mail and text messages that come in the form of job offers, cash prizes, etc. He stressed the importance of shopping from secure sites, and to avoid using credit cards on suspicious sites.
