The Ministry of Interior will take part in the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2013), which kicks off on Sunday; showcasing cutting edge technologies, as well as several initiatives and sophisticated electronic services.
Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, indicated that participation will include contribution from all organizational units, classified as per their direct area of contribution to the strategic priorities adopted at the Ministry, and their supporting systems.
Al Raisi added that the Ministry's participation in the Exhibition allows visitors access to the latest e-services, and sheds light on the latest projects in Global Geographic Information Systems which will be at the forefront regionally in the field of security and safety, namely; biometrics systems; e-Passport; e-ports and GIS applications; in addition to direct communication with participants and visitors.
He mentioned that the exhibition is an important platform to acquaint community members and visitors with the sizeable qualitative progress and the distinguished services achieved by the ministry, via the various forms of digital communication.
He pointed out that the Exhibition also represents a real opportunity to learn about the latest developments in Information Technology. For this end, the Ministry of Interior will showcase several projects and advanced new electronic services.
“The Ministry has been keen to offer innovative new e-services to the public and promote the existing ones. It has also been dedicated to spread awareness among community members and businesses, on the importance of benefitting from these services,” he said. Moreover, Al Raisi added that the ministry will be displaying, as part of the exhibition, its new “Electronic trial” system introduced by the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Ministry of Justice, as part of its project to electronically link both ministries. This project would serve the Punitive Reformatory Establishments inmates at the state level, and allow them to appear before the court, remotely, from their holding cells, through the “video conferencing” technology.
Moreover, Al Raisi pointed out that this unprecedented humanitarian project aims to alleviate inmates’ suffering and promote joint cooperation between relevant institutions that serve them. He also highlighted the project’s health, security and environmental benefits; noting that the Ministry of Interior has completed the final stages of the e-linking project.
Furthermore, Al Raisi indicated that the project will eliminate the need for inmates’ personal appearance in court; unless the Court decides otherwise. He shed light on the positive results that will be achieved by the project, namely; a fast handling of judicial services (extended custody periods; hearing inmates’ complaints and requests; calling inmates to account or inquiry; witnesses’ hearing; etc…). In addition to that, the project will alleviate the burden on sick, elderly inmates or inmates with special needs; it will reduce escape of prisoners or any possible abuse due to contact between criminals or suspects with the audience.
Mobile Operations Rooms
