Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attended the signing ceremony of an agreement between the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the Rabdan Academy, which is specialized in human resources training, to launch the Comprehensive Police Station Management (CPSM) bachelor’s degree program. The CPSM program covers the topics of leadership, community policing concepts, child protection, human rights, road safety, operational command, business continuity management and crisis management.
The agreement was signed by Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Saif Mohamed Al Hajeri, CEO of Tawazun.
The four-year program will commence in September 2014. The graduates will be granted a bachelor’s degree upon completing study requirements and acquiring the related knowledge and skills.
Launched upon the instructions of HH Sheikh Saif, the CPSM program was designed to develop knowledge and skills of students specifically to address operational policing issues. The core subjects of the program include leadership, community policing, crime investigation and crime scenes. Students will also complete a temporary workplace secondment at a Comprehensive Police Station to allow for practical application of new knowledge and skills.
The officers enrolled in this program will join policing institutions across the world in order to build a greater understanding of policing issues and how they are resolved. After graduating from the CPSM Program, students will be able to manage operational policing and will have the potential to be the police managers and leaders of the future.
Major General Al Nuaimi said the program was developed in line with the vision of the police leadership and as part of the Ministry of Interior’s stated mission of working towards enhancing quality of life in the UAE and its efforts to keep abreast of the latest in law enforcement and order management.
“We are very pleased to be working with Rabdan Academy on this program, which is the first of its kind in the world. We are confident that the program will add a new depth to the high standards police services offered in the UAE,” Major General Al Nuaimi added.
Major General Al Nuaimi said: “The CPSM program has been developed in partnership with police stakeholders to respond to the evolving nature of policing. The CPSM Program will assist the MoI to achieve the vision and strategic mission of policing and reflects the significant strategic development that is being made into policing in the UAE.”
For his part, Dr. Faisal Obaid Alayyan, Executive Vice President, Rabdan Academy, said: “The rapid growth witnessed in the UAE is normally coupled with challenges in all domains, including policing, which is becoming more complex with global influences. The Rabdan Academy is supporting and contributing in developing policing through the new CPSM program.”

Furthermore, Major General Matar Salim Ali Al Dhahery, Office of Chief of Administration and Manpower Staff, General Headquarters of Armed Forces – United Arab Emirates and Saif Mohamed Al Hajeri signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Rabdan and the UAE Armed Forces General Headquarters.
