over 15 months all over the country
MoI reveals that it has arrested 41470 violators and infiltrators during inspection campaigns carried out at the country over 15 months, from the beginning of last year until the first three months of this year.
596 persons have been arrested for their involvement in harboring illegal residents and 378 persons for forgery and as wanted fugitives.
This statement was made by Major General Nasser Al Awadhi Al Minhali, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, giving the following details; the total number of violators and infiltrators arrested by the ministry of Interior represented by Violators and Foreigners Follow up Department in 2009 was 30,443 individuals, of these: 2,708 infiltrators and 27,735 violators. They were arrested in cooperation with relevant authorities. 431 were arrested for harboring and employing violators and infiltrators. During the same campaign 68 individuals were arrested for their involvement in forgery crimes.
Total number of violators and infiltrators arrested by the same Department during the first quarter of 2010 (January, February and March) was 11,027. Of these 1,201 were infiltrators and 9,817 were violators. 165 were arrested for harboring and employing violators and infiltrators. 310 were arrested for forgery crimes and others were wanted fugitives.
Most of these individuals were Asian nationals. They were charged with (repetition, work and harboring), transporting, employing and helping entry of infiltrators. The violators charges vary between working for others, doing jobs do not in accordance with their visas, assisting violators to stay illegally in the country, escaping absconding from sponsor, employing and harboring violator, returning to the country after being deported.
Al Minhali urged citizens, residents and business owners not to harbor or employ the residency law violators. People should not hesitate to call “Sahim” service through phone number (80080) to report any infiltrators or if they have any information in this regard.
He said on the side lines of the Campaign (Sahim), launched by MoI, represented by the Violators and Foreigners Follow up Department in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Media Corporation and implemented by the Department of Security Media at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy prime minister and Minister of Interior “Sahim Service allows individuals to give information without revealing their identities, if they prefer that. The information that the Service receives is handled with high efficiency to enable us to reach this category and arrest its members. Encouraging the people to cooperate with MoI with credibility and transparency will increase their trust in MoI elements”.
MoI launched “Sahim” Service to receive information through the toll free number (80080) to spot infiltrators and violators, to maintain the country security and stability.
“The citizens and residents support MoI elements in confronting infiltrators and violators’ phenomenon. They are responsible for reporting them immediately. Social a partnership motivates them to give information as soon as they get it to help MoI elements in dealing with the phenomenon”, added Al Minhali.
