The Ministry of the Interior received two international awards in the areas of international quality and public service. Dubai Police General Command won the first place award in the United Nations Public Service Award for 2012 in the category of "Equalizing gender differences” in Public Service.
Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters earned the International Platinum Star for Quality awarded by the "B.I.D" Business Initiative Directions Organization, one of the largest organizations in the world, for institutional performance evaluation, in terms of public satisfaction and services seekers, in dealing with service institutions in the world.
Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy General Commander of Dubai Police, received the United Nations Public Service Award for 2012 in the category of "Equalizing gender differences” in Public Service from Mr. Sha Zukang, Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs in the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, in the presence Ambassador Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, UAE Permanent Representative to the United Nations; Dr. Mutlaq Al-Qahtani, Chef de Cabinet of the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, and more than 400 participants, a number of senior officials from the Secretariat of the United Nations, and senior government officials from around the world.
The Ministry of Interior’s delegation, headed by Deputy General Commander of Dubai Police included Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razak Obaidli, Director of the General Administration of Total Quality Performance at Dubai Police; Major General Taresh Eid Al Mansouri; Director General of Human Resources at Dubai Police; Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al-Murr, Director General of the Human Rights Department of Dubai police; Dr Meshkan Al Awar, Director of Graduate Studies at Dubai Police Academy and Head of the Dubai Police Women council for community services, and Lt. Abdullah Ashkanani, Head of Management Excellence Department at TQM.
In Paris, Colonel Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Director of Peripheral Areas Police Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, received the International Platinum Star for Quality from Jose Puerto, President of "B.I.D" Business Initiative Directions Organization, in a ceremony held at the "Concorde" hotel in the French capital Paris. The ceremony was attended by a large number of people concerned with quality and institutional performance from all over the world, as well as a number of officers from the Ministry of Interior, accompanying H.E, Director of Peripheral Areas Police Directorate.
In detail, the 2012 United Nations Public Service Award Commission announced during the ceremony held in New York, that the General Administration of Total Quality Performance at Dubai Police has made a significant contribution in improving the overall performance in the state, and will serve as an inspiration and encouragement to other sectors involved in public service.
The gender responsive delivery of Public Services Award, received by the Ministry of Interior, is one of 5 categories including: preventing and combating corruption in public service; improving the delivery of services in public service; fostering participation in policy-making decisions through innovative mechanisms, and last but not least, advancing knowledge management in government.
Major General Al Mazeina stated that it was not surprising for the UAE, represented by the Ministry of the Interior, to achieve first place, through the participation of the Dubai Police General Command in the United Nations Public Service Award, in the category of "Equalizing gender differences” in Public Service, and "Promoting Gender Responsive Delivery” of Public Services.
