The Ministry of Interior organized a fourth specialized workshop at the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa to discuss the 2014-2016 Police Sector’s Strategic Plan Update.
H.E. Lieutenant General Saif Abdullah Al Shafar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior emphasized the Ministry’s keenness to intensify efforts in order to promote security and stability for all citizens and residents of the State. Al Shafar highlighted the achievements attained by the Ministry from the previous 2011- 2013 strategic plan, and what it plans to achieve by updating the 2014-2016 plan. The plan update is part of the Ministry of Interior’s comprehensive strategic development program and is aligned with the Federal Government’s requirements.
Al Shafar noted that The Ministry of Interior has transformed its strategy, objectives, and goals into a meaningful, daily routine to achieve the UAE’s 2021 Vision enhancing all work areas, thus promoting security and stability in UAE society.
Moreover, Al Shafar added that the strategy pursued by the Ministry of Interior has achieved good results, demonstrated by the significant number of international and local awards it has acquire. These accolades reflect the level of development the Ministry has reached and highlights its accomplishments. These achievements have been made possible thanks to the support of the higher leadership and its tireless ongoing dedication to develop governmental performance and the capabilities and efficiency of the police bodies and its members. The firm belief in the need to work on providing a good and stable work environment and enhancing services provided to the public have also contributed to the success that the Ministry has achieved.
Concluding, H.E. Lieutenant General Saif Abdullah Al Shafar expressed his hopes for success to all in achieving the higher leadership’s aspirations to make the UAE one of the safest and most secure countries in the world.
The workshop, organized by the General Directorate of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior, was attended by: Major General Hamid Mohammad Al Hudaidi, General Commander of Sharjah Police; Major General Khamis Saif bin Suaif, Director General of Criminal Security, Ministry of Interior; and Major General Mohammed Al Awadi Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, in addition to police commanders and director generals. Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Al Dhaheri, Director General of Strategy and Performance Development; Colonel Aziz Hamoud Al Ameri; and Director of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry, and heads of divisions and officers from the Strategy Directorate also attended.
Colonel Aziz Al Ameri gave a presentation on updating the Ministry of Interior’s Strategic Plan, which is in line with the Federal Government's strategies, and serves the process of development and updating measures launched by the Ministry in 2010; the updated strategy will serve as the 2014-2016 plan.
Al Ameri presented examples of the strategic goals and topics that workshop participants will review and identify for the police sector. Additionally, they will review internal and external environmental analysis and strategic cases, and what has been achieved during the previous workshops.
Moreover, Major Nihal Abdul Rahman, Head of Institutional Performance Measuring Department, gave a detailed presentation on the practical exercises to be undertaken to determine the strategic objectives that the police sector implements to achieve the Ministry of Interior’s objectives.
