The Ministry of Interior launched, today (Sunday), an awareness campaign under the theme “No to Violators” to increase levels of awareness on the importance of putting an end to residency law violations such as overstaying from the length of time permitted on the issued visa, and the importance of informing on such individuals. The campaign was organized by Follow-Up of Violators and Foreigners Affairs at the Undersecretary’s office of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization Residency and Ports.
Major General, Nasser bin Al Awadi Al Menhali, the Ministry of Interior’s Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization Residency and Ports, said: “The campaign held under the title ‘No to Violators’ is an implementation of the directives of Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, to curb the existence of infiltrators, violators of residency and foreigner affairs rules.”
The campaign is implemented by the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in cooperation with print and broadcasted media, civil society institutes, members of society, and authorities concerned with spreading awareness among UAE nationals and residents.
Al Menhali explained that the campaign aims to promote society’s confidence in services provided by the Ministry, as per the law organizing legal settlements, and to confront violators and infiltrators. He warned against the risks of dealing with infiltrators and violators because they are outlaws.
He said: “Inspection teams will continue their work at the UAE level at all times and places to detain those individuals and bring them to justice. We promise to continue the campaign to detain individuals who provide safe haven to those violators, and take the legal actions against them.”
He continued to say that the ministry will not spare any effort that leads to the detention of those individuals who enter the country and reside within illegally, calling upon UAE nationals, residents and all segments of society to cooperate and make the campaign a success. The ministry urges communication with concerned authorities to report such individuals and their domiciles by calling the “Sahim” toll free number (80080), which is available 24 hours a day. He believes that the cooperation of the entire society will lead to the elimination of this harmful law violation reaching security and safety in society.
He said that the directives of the higher commandment of the country stipulates taking all the required procedures leading to the abolishment of infiltration and violation of residency and entrance rules, and will result in the detention of all elements that facilitate such violations in order to protect society and ensure safety to all legal residents in the country.
Colonel Ahmed Sultan Al Zaabi, Director of Follow-Up of Violators and Foreigners Affairs said that the campaign will be implemented through social media websites Facebook and Twitter, and through the Ministry’s website: http://www.moi.gov.ae.
He added: “The campaign will witness the participation of a number of governmental entities namely the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labor, through raising the awareness of labor forces and private sector companies about the risks of violating the law, and to encourage violators to visit General Departments of Residency and Foreigner Affairs to settle their situations. Additionally, the participation of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowment through Friday sermons will encourage Muslims to cooperate with the authorities in this regard.
