Ministry of Interior won 10 awards of the UAE Government Excellence Awards in its second edition, in line with the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awards, earing with that the lion’s share. The awards ceremony was held on Sunday afternoon under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Muhammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and organized by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs in the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, asserted that the excellence achieved by participating entities is attributed in first place to the UAE leadership’s excellence which represents a catalyst to all citizens to achieve higher level in all fields. It is also the fruits of a long hardworking of organizers and workforces of the awards that yielded now.
His Highness noted that the vision that was promoted by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, along with his brother H.H. Sheikh Muhammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, encourages us all to continue excellence, and make our country a true support for civilization, creativity and progress.
His Highness added: “with the growth of the UAE achievements year over year, the amount of responsibilities and challenges grow with it. The vocal point lays in maintaining what was achieved, continue handling the burdens of those responsibilities, and tackle challenges regardless their size.”
His Highness called upon all winners to continue their efforts to be able to take over the responsibility of the future, ensure the largest possible amount of quality and excellence, and elevate the services provided to higher levels. Concluding, he stressed the true importance of these awards lay in the excellence values and standards they promote, which all government entities seek to follow.
The ten awards won by the Ministry of Interior were in the following categories: The Distinguished Federal Entity; The Distinguished Governmental Zone; The Distinguished Governmental Entity in Performance Management; The Distinguished Federal Entity in Creativity; The Distinguished Governmental Entity in Governmental Communications; The Distinguished in Human Resources; The Distinguished Governmental Entity in Strategic Planning; The Prime Minister’s Medal for Supervision; the Prime Minister’s Medal for Technical and Technological Fields; and the Prime Minister’s Awards for Field Work.

Lieutenant General Saif Abdullah Al Shafar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, commended the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awards programmes and its noble objectives aiming to develop the governmental performance, enhance human resources in the country, and spread the culture of creativity and loyalty in all employees. He asserted the role of this programme in supporting governmental entities in their endeavors to identify strength and weak points provide solutions to enhance performance through benefitting from local and global experiences.
He explained that awards won today by the Ministry of Interior represent a great achievement that will be added to the achievements of the Ministry on its march towards government excellence. He noted that the Ministry spread the culture of quality and excellence continuously through different mechanisms among new recruits, and at all levels of its leadership and departments. He said that the Ministry was keen to involve participants in workshops to review the latest developments in the field of corporate excellence, identify global and regional experiments in this field to promote and launch their creative potentials and skills.
