The Committee of Minister of the Interior Award for Scientific Research received 122 researches on areas of Police Science, Sociology, Law, Applied Science, Management, and Media, while five researches were disqualified for not meeting the required conditions.

The Award’s Board of Trustees reviewed, at a meeting at the Police College, headed by Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the operational plan for the Award, and achievements of the Executive Committee of the Award Secretariat, including the organization of  (11) educative seminars for the police personnel at the countrywide level to familiarize them with the Award and its objectives and criteria for entry.

The Council recommended the formation of a committee to sort the researches submitted as entries before the final result, and also recommended preparation of a booklet containing a summary of all researches and biographies of their respective owners.

The Award was launched in May last year, 2011, with  the Board of Trustees including in its membership,  Dr. Matar Hamed Niyadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, Dr. Jassem Al Shamesi, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the UAE University, and Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Al Obaidly, Director General Department of Total Quality in Dubai Police, and Lt. Col. Dr. Salah Al-Ghoul Director, law respect culture bureau at the Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Lt Colonel Dr. Ahmed Al Khuzaimi, head of International Conventions at of International Cooperation Department.

The Secretary-General of Award said this Award is different from other similar awards because it includes all disciplines and areas that serve the police works, referring to the need to encourage retired police officers to participate in this award; to share their long expertise they have gained through the period of their service with their peers.

He praised the efforts of members of the Board of Trustees to achieve the desired goal of the Award and establish an institutionalized system to support research and promote security studies, strengthen efforts to improve police work in all areas, and consolidate scientific research as an essential tool for building a knowledge base that is capable of accommodating modern science and its multiple applications in the security field.

Lt Colonel Dr. Salah Al-Ghoul, a member of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Executive Secretariat of the Award stated that the Committee received 122 researches, of which 59 in police sciences and 21 in sociology and 18 in the law and 9 of applied science, 9 others in management, and one in media, pointing out that the Committee excluded five researches for non-compliance with the conditions of the Award.

He said the Committee has, availing of databases, university professors, research centers in the country and abroad and experienced police personnel, selected the best arbitrators, assigning 3 assessors for each research.

Arbitration process will complete within two months, before the final result is announced and winners are honored, he added.
