Under the patronage of Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minster and Minster of interior, the Zayed House for Family Care, an affiliate of the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care & Special Needs, organized a ceremony marking the Arab Orphans’ Day 2013, at the Emirates Park Zoo, in Al Bahyia area in Abu Dhabi.

The celebration was attended by Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, along with Mohammed Mohammed Fadel Al Hameli, Vice Chairman of the Board; Secretary General of the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care, a number of artists, orphans and a huge crowd of citizens and residents.

Al Nuaimi and other participants toured the park, and were acquainted with the various pavilions and their noble humanitarian goals. They also viewed the drawings exhibition and artistic section which was held on the sidelines of the event.

During the celebration, attendees were given an overview of the significant achievements made by both the Zayed House for Family Care and its orphaned children. They also were acquainted with the various programs provided by the Emirates Park zoo to boost the knowledge of its visitors through educational programs presented in an entertaining style, to reach the coveted educational objective.

The celebrations included a number of activities, namely; mime and clowns shows; sports contests; singing and theater plays; and exciting performances highly appreciated by the audience.

Major General Al Nuaimi, owner of Emirates Park Zoo project, emphasized the commitment of the UAE and its dedicated attention to childhood. He underscored the State’s endeavor through legislations and laws, and via a number of institutions, federal and local agencies, to provide comprehensive care for deprived children, particularly orphans; in addition to financial support and moral attention, in line with its firm belief that proper care for children is the key to ensure a better future for the country.

“In any society, orphans are in need of care and attention; and participating in the ceremonies of the Arab Orphans Day is one way to do it,” he said. Moreover, he stressed the need to spread the culture of showing care and charity towards orphans, in line with the values and principles of Islam, which urges us to care for them.

For his part, Mohamed Mohamed Fadel Al Hameli, Vice Chairman of the Board, Secretary General of the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Lt. General, His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for his kind patronage for the events, which reflects the attention dedicated by the higher leadership to orphans.

Al Hameli indicated that the State's commitment to care for orphans and provide them with continuous support, directly contributed in producing righteous individuals, capable of participating in the State’s development process. Furthermore, Al Hameli gave a presentation showcasing images, programs and services provided by the Zayed House for Family Care to orphans, and the role it plays to integrate them into society.

For his part, Mohammed Abu Bakr, Director of Marketing at the Emirates Park Zoo explained that organizing such humanitarian activities embodies the vision of the project owner, who took the initiative to create the Emirates Park Zoo for animals to be at the heart of a responsible a community-based action, to educate and raise awareness among future generations about the principles of compassion and co-existence.
