Major General Al Kitbi honors ADP Music Band Founder and
Head of the Section
In response to the directives of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, on the occasion of the conclusion of ADP Music Band 47th Anniversary, Major General (S) Obeid Al Hiri Salim Al Kitbi, Deputy Commander-in-chief of Abu Dhabi Police, honored in his office, Colonel "retired" Ishaq Suleiman Mohammad, the founder of ADP Music Band Section, in appreciation of his distinguished efforts, on Monday.
Al Kitbi appreciated the efforts and pioneering role of the honored retired officer. The Band has achieved social communication through its participations in many social activities which reflected the nature and characteristics of Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
During the ceremony the old and new uniforms of the Band were showcased. Al Kitbi also honored Captain Ibrahim Abdul Rahim Al Hosani, Head of ADP Music Band Section for his distinguished efforts.
Al Kitbi said "ADP Music Band presents an example of motivation, discipline, high quality and harmony, due to the efforts of its leading generation and its achievements. He affirmed the Higher Leadership keenness to honor loyal pioneers.
Colonel (Retired) Ishaq Suleiman said "The past period has witnessed a development in the musical pieces where global music has been introduced and the Western music has been combined with Arabic music in many musical pieces. New music instruments have also been introduced in order to produce attractive tunes".
The ADP Music Band Section participated in many activities organized by the Department of Security Media. The Band performance was met with enthusiasm and admiration. Hundreds of people attended the musical evenings in different locations at Abu Dhabi Emirate level, including Marina Mall-Abu Dhabi, Al Khalidia Mall and Al Ain Mall. The Band also performed at the City Mall in the Western Region, Liwa Dates Festival and "My Country Summer" Festival in Fujairah Emirate.
ADP Music band is one of the old bands in the region. It was the first music band in Abu Dhabi. It was founded in 1963 with 60 players at hat time.
During the seventies the number of players was increased to 70 and during the eighties the players received more training by experienced persons in the band. Some new instruments were introduced and training halls were expanded. The band continued its development during the nineties until now. At present there are 200 players in the band in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
ADP Music band participates in daily training of military trainees at colleges, training centers, reception and farewell of kings and heads of states who visit the UAE. It also participates in foreign embassies when they celebrate their national days and their other occasions. It participates in graduation ceremonies from the police college or other training centers, in addition to festivals, exhibitions, official celebrations organized by ministries, and government departments and institutions, sports championships and heritage races .
