ID card is a must for Emiratis for licence transactions

 

The Department of Vehicles and Drivers Licensing (DVDL) at Abu Dhabi Police has stated that with effect from 8 November 2009 Emiratis will be required to present their ID cards when applying for any DVDL-related transactions.

 This step will be applied in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region. Expatriates will be required to do the same on a later date.

Lt. Colonel Suhail Saeed Al Kheili, Spokesman for DVDL said that his Department has launched an electronic system with bar code reader to speedily identify personal data stored in the customer's ID card. DVDL provide total of 28 services; of these 16 belong to Vehicles Licensing Section and 12 services done by the Drivers Licensing Section.
