The heads of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) police sports federations met on Monday at the Fairmont Bab El Bahr Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Councilor Abdullah Salem bin Nasra Al Amri, President of the Sports Federation and head of the UAE delegation, launched the second annual meeting, emphasizing that it comes in line with the GCC Interior Ministers’ directives; and to consolidate the ties of brotherhood and cooperation between the various GCC police sports federations.

In his address at the opening ceremony, Councilor Al Amri, welcomed the presidents and representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) police sports federations. He conveyed the greetings of the police leadership and wished the attendees a good stay in the UAE, and every success to their meeting.

Moreover, Al Amri underscored the importance of the meeting to enhance the Gulf police sports and achieve the common goals, in order to bring the coveted development to fruition. This embodies the aspirations and objectives of the GCC Interior Ministers, and contributes to fulfill the wishes of the Gulf police sports federations to attain further development and progress, as well as support sports in all GCC countries, and police sports in particular.

For his part, Colonel Ali Bu Hindi, representative of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretariat General, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the UAE for hosting this meeting, as well as for the warm reception and famed hospitality. He also conveyed the greetings of Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and of Colonel Hazza Al Hajri, GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Security Affairs, valuing the efforts exerted by Councilor Abdullah Al Amri to ensure the success of the meeting.

Bu Hindi noted that the meeting addressed a number of sports-related topics, for which the attendees dedicate their expertise and priority, in order to reach the proper recommendations. He added that such recommendations will be submitted to the undersecretaries of the GCC Ministries of Interior. 

Moreover, Bu Hindi noted that the GCC Interior Ministers have approved at their 31st meeting held in Riyadh, the recommendations of the first meeting for the heads of GCC police sports federations, and were circulated on all GCC Ministries of Interior. He then expressed his hope for a successful outcome for the meeting to achieve the common goals.
 
The meeting began with a first session, which reviewed and discussed a number of working papers and proposals submitted by the Member States; which serve police sports in the Gulf.

The second session tackled the issue of preparing a schedule for the specialized training courses to qualify sports cadres, and to organize tournaments between the various GCC sports federations. The participants adopted a working paper submitted by the Police Sports Federation at the UAE’s Ministry of Interior, with respect to qualifying and training police recruits in the field of sports, in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
 
The meeting was attended by heads of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) police sports federations, namely; Lt. Colonel Khalid Abdulaziz Khayat, head of the Police Sports Federation, delegation of Bahrain; Major General Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Marool, President of the Saudi Sports Federation for Internal Security Forces; Colonel Abdul Malik bin Ghassan Mazrouei, vice president of the Police Sports Federation, delegation of the Sultanate of Oman; Brigadier Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah, President of the Qatari and Arab Police Sports Federations; and Colonel Abdul Rahman Abdul Mohsen Al Haqqan, Vice President of the Kuwaiti Police Sports Federation.
