Forensic Evidence Coordinating Committee discusses standardization of fees
The Coordinating Committee of MoI Forensic Laboratories has submitted a proposal for standardization of good conduct certificate issue fees to the Fingerprints Sections Heads at the Forensic Laboratories in the country. This is in order to make a comprehensive study to standardize fees. The Committee has also, after studying the requirements to activate the Forensic Laboratory in Al Fujairah, decided to start the work on and support the Poisons and Drugs Section after the month of Ramadan.
The meeting chaired by Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hamadi, Director of ADP Department of Forensic Evidences, has discussed support of cooperation and exchange of expertise between Forensic Laboratories in the country.
They have also discussed offering technical experience to some forensic laboratories in the Northern Emirates to enable them to activate the work mechanism of some of their Sections, in addition to discussing the proposals and suggestions submitted by members regarding development and cooperation processes between Forensic laboratories.
The meeting has also discussed a practical plan to qualify nationals who possess high qualifications to work in the Northern Emirates Forensic Laboratories. According to the proposal that a number of nationals should be qualified each year in certain fields of specialization, such as fires, firearms, machines, examination of documents and assisting them in gaining the required technical experience in examination, analysis and writing of technical reports through accompanying experts and joining specialized training courses.
The members have reviewed the forensic work system from receiving the report until finishing work at the scene of the crime. They have affirmed the importance of scene of crime teams as they are the first respondent to the site of the crime and the first persons who deal with its evidence.
The meeting has proposed that Forensic Experts working in Ajman, Um Al Quwain, RAK and Al Fujairah laboratories, should undertake cases and incidents within their areas of jurisdiction in the Emirate, in addition to covering cases and incidents in the emirates that are geographically near them.
The meeting was attended by Colonel (Dr.) Abdul Qadir Mohammad Al Amri, from Sharjah Laboratory, Lt. Colonel Ahmed Mattar Al Miheiri from Dubai Laboratory, Lt. Colonel Ali Humaid Al Maseebi from Ajman Laboratory. Captain Abdullah Rashid from Um Al Quwein Laboratory and Captain Abdul Rahman Khalifa from Al Fujairah Laboratory.
The proposals and recommendations of the meeting will be submitted to the High Committees Department for necessary decision and action.
