Falcon (Al Saqr) Motorbike of Abu Dhabi Police has lead on Saturday evening a parade of 60 motorbikes in celebration of the event promoting reducing climate changes “Earth Hour” in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Municipality the official coordinator of this annual event in the capital. The event was organized by Emirates Wildlife Society in cooperation with the global Earth Preservation Fund, and held under the title “if you do, I will, challenging the world for Earth.”

Bikers gathered in Marina Mall Abu Dhabi at 5:30 pm. They distributed awareness publications on visitors to spread information about the importance of Earth Hour; promote the culture of preserving resources and put an end to wasting those resources, in contribution of achieving the desired sustainable development and the participation of the world in this event.

Following that, the bike parade moved on headed by Captain Ahmed bin Muhammad bin Hadi who was riding the Falcon (Al Saqr) bike. The parade started from Marina Mall, and then passed through Abu Dhabi Corniche, reaching to Al Khaldiyah Mall. In the parking lot, three bikers including the one riding the Falcon bike briefed the audience on the celebration of the Earth Hour. They distributed awareness brochures encouraging the participation in this global event.

The parade stopped in the parking near the open coast by the corniche. At Zero hour at 8:30 pm, the bikers turned off the engines and lights of their bikes till 9:30 pm. During that period they distributed awareness brochures on the audience encouraging the audience to reduce the consumption of power, preserve energy and our natural resources proceeding from the importance of the Earth Hour which aims at reducing the effects of climate change.

Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Al Khaja, Deputy director of Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, said that the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police is keen to participate in the event through this leading environmental initiative. This participation comes in line with its strategy aiming at interacting with audience in all occasions and events, promoting the awareness message of all activities, cement the spirit of confidence and cooperation with all segments of the society especially the youth.

He added: “this participation aims at encouraging youth to support active initiatives to preserve environment, face the climate change phenomena, support friendships and Synergies with all society segments, speak to those segments as per their interests and hobbies with the aim of achieving constructive partnerships and cooperation, in addition to employing these efforts, activates and the energy of the youth in achieving the objectives of the society.

Dr. Badria Al Dhahiri, Director of Community Services Department in Abu Dhabi Municipality, explained that the participation of the Municipality in this global annual event expresses its commitment in preserving environment, reducing the green gas emissions, which represents the biggest challenge faced by Earth on the way for a better living on the planet.

She noted that the municipality organized a number of events in line with the Earth Hour, on Saturday at 8:30 pm on the Abu Dhabi corniche including: drums shows, candle lighting, in addition to the bike parade, play yard for children, which added joy to the celebration. These activities aimed at encouraging the audience to participate in this civilized initiative aiming at promoting the values and objectives of this celebration to increase environmental awareness towards reducing consumption of power, support the culture of reducing consumption, and develop the national sense towards environment, and the usage of its resources positively.
