Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, said that Abu Dhabi Police has started the work on developing emergency medicine by adopting the world’s finest medical and scientific standards, thereby safeguarding victims of road crashes and dealing with home emergency reports.

in a statement he made at the sidelines of the a symposium on “emergency medicine” organized by the Emirates Search and Rescue Team of Abu Dhabi Police and held at the police officers club, he pointed out that the Ambulance Section witnessed continuous development and now is staffed with specialized medical teams and personnel that are capable to handle all emergency situations.

Despite the huge steps made by the ambulance section in the field of emergency medicine, in terms of the qualified personnel and modern equipment, said Al Raisi, however, we moved to the stage of the international competition. Work is underway to provide UAE citizens with emergency medicine training at specialized universities and academies in Australia, Canada and Germany. So far, as many as 40 students have been sent aboard to gain international expertise in this field.

He pointed out that, the first Emarati paramedics in county and the Middle East have been graduated in 2006, and in 2009 the Ambulance section has obtained the American Heart Association Certification recognizing its services in the field of emergency medicine. In 2010, a group of Emirati paramedics have been sent abroad to complete their emergency medicine studies.

Participated at the symposium were Dr. Louise Toner, Associate Dean of Faculty of Health, Birmingham city university, John Butterfield, Director ERS INTERNATIONAL GROUP LIMITED.

The symposium will help us learn about the latest in the field of ambulance and medical services to correspond with the strategy of Abu Dhabi Police in the road safety, said head of Emirati Search and Rescue Team at Abu Dhabi Police, Lt Colonel Mohammed Abduljaleel Al Ansari.

A delegation from the emergency and public safety department of Abu Dhabi Police led by Major Buti Al Mazrouei, head of ambulance section will visit Birmingham City University next week to get acquainted with benchmarks on ambulance and field services, he noted.
 
Birmingham City University is one of the grand and specialized universities in emergency medicine, said Al Mazrouei, urging those students graduated from the universities in Germany, Canada and Australia, and the Higher Colleges of Technology    to complete their studies at this reputable university.
