The Dubai Police GHQ team won the 16th Police Pentathlon Championship, which included a number of competitions namely, shot put; swimming; archery; running races for 3000 meters; and long jump. The Championship, organized by the Police Sports Federation, is held under the patronage of Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The Dubai Police hosted the Championship on the tracks of the Dubai Police Officers’ Club, the Dubai Police College and the Al Wasl Sports Club. The Fujairah Police GHQ team ranked second while the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ team came in third place.

The Dubai Police team obtained a total of 17784 points; the Fujairah Police team 17043 points, and the Abu Dhabi Police team obtained 15791.5 points. The Special Security Forces’ team ranked fourth in the Championship; the Civil Defense General Directorate team ranked fifth and the Ras Al Khaimah Police team secured sixth position.

In the individual competitions, winners were as follows:  Contestant Ali Obaid from Dubai Police secured first place; Ghanem Khalfan Hassan of the Fujairah Police ranked second; Farouk Mahmoud of the Dubai Police ranked third; Ahmed Ali Mohammed of the Dubai Police ranked fourth; Abdullah Hussain Farhan of the Dubai Police ranked fifth. Moreover, Mohsen Hassan Mohammed of the Fujairah Police ranked sixth; Saud Jumaa of the Abu Dhabi Police ranked seventh; Saif Ali of the Fujairah Police ranked in eighth; Ahmed Jassim of the Dubai Police ranked ninth; while Tarek Yousef of the Fujairah Police finished in tenth place.

Colonel Hamid Mohamed Al Ansari, Director of the Office of Quality Assurance at Dubai Police, accompanied by Colonel Ahmed Hamdan Al Zayoudi, board member of the Police Sports Federation, distributed the trophies to the winning teams.

Colonel Al Ansari praised the Championship’s level and the good organization carried out by the Sports Affairs Department at Dubai Police, to host the event. He added that the Police Sports Federation’s Championships have acquired a significant dimension, as a result of the development achieved by the various police teams competing for the titles. “This indicates that the Championship is no longer a monopoly of specific teams,” he noted. “Several teams and new players have joined the competition in this Pentathlon Championship. This proves the proper approach adopted by the Police Sports Federation, which contributed to develop the competitions, and helped identify talented players, who joined the national teams and achieved outstanding honoring results,” Al Ansari continued.

Colonel Ahmed Al Zayoudi congratulated the Dubai Police team for winning the Championship. He underscored the Pentathlon’s vital role in developing individual competitions and discovering new and skillful sportsmen capable of supporting the national teams.

Moreover, Al Zayousi added that the Police Sports Federation dedicates significant attention to this Championship, along with all other tournaments it sponsors every year. This indicates the Police Sports Federation’s role to develop police sports, and its endeavor to establish sports concepts, which in turn, significantly develop sports in general across the State. “The Police Sports Federation has made considerable progress and achieved numerous successes in these aspects,” he noted.
