Commitment to Traffic rules is a civilized behavior: Abu Dhabi Police
Colonel (Engineer) Hussain Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of ADP Traffic and Patrols has urged all the motorists to drive their vehicles at low speeds, as part of current preparations for Etihad Airways Formula 1, Grand Prix – Abu Dhabi 2010, which will take place at Yass Island circuit, during the period from 12 to 14 November 2010.
"This Global grand event which is hosted by the Capital, Abu Dhabi, requires all of us to reflect the civilized and shining image of our country. Compliance with traffic rules and regulations is considered one of the most civilized behaviors by which to show all peoples of the world what our traffic strategy has achieved, within the framework of police work based on delivery of best services to the public. This is shown clearly in ADP working team who implements the media awareness campaign launched by the Department of Security Media in collaboration with different government partners under the slogan "We ensure your safety in the fastest way", added Al Harthi.
"Driving at breakneck speed on internal and external roads is dangerous and disastrous. All scientific studies and accidents causes analysis indicate that driving at high speeds lead to loss of control over vehicle, and to avoid others mistakes", added Al Harthi.
Al Harthi has urged motorists to abide by legal speed limits on internal and external roads of Abu Dhabi. Drivers must slow down especially when approaching traffic signals. Our roads are designed for normal driving and not for racing which leads to severe traffic accidents.
The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols at ADP has made an integrated plan according to which traffic patrols will intensified on internal and external roads and strict traffic control will be practiced to book all violators of traffic rules. We know that such events are accompanied by irresponsible behaviors by the youth such as racing and stunts on roads. Traffic patrols will be fully alert to any traffic rules violations, he added.
Al Harthi has stressed the importance of compliance with speed limits on internal and external roads of Abu Dhabi Emirate. The problem with speeding is that the driver will not have enough time to decide, road surprises and increasing possibility of accidents as a result of not leaving enough distance between vehicles.
