Capital Police Directorate: 50 violators involved in different crimes 

 

Community Policing Department elements have distributed 15 thousand brochures at mosques and filling stations in Abu Dhabi, Western Region and Al Ain, to educate the public on the campaign against violators and infiltrators "Sahim", and to report them through the phone number (80080).

The Islamic Affairs and Awqaf General Authority has unified preach at the country level in five languages to address citizens and residents about the importance of facing illegal residents.

Preachers have urged the people to cooperate with "Sahim" Campaign to curb the phenomenon of violators and infiltrators and their negative medical, security and economic effects. These individuals may carry contagious diseases as they do not undergo medical examinations. Obeying the orders of the Country Higher Leadership is a duty we must all carry out. Those who employ or harbor illegal residents will get stiff punishments.

In the same context, Colonel Maktoum Ali bin Aziz Al Shareefi, Director of the Capital Police Directorate at ADP said "There is a close relationship between crime and violation of residency laws. Statistics reveal that 50 violators have involved in thefts, fraud and beggary crimes".

"Violators resort to different methods to meet their living needs in an illegal way. It is difficult to trace them as there are no records about them showing their addresses etc. He urges all community members to cooperate with Department of Violators and Foreigners Follow up at the Office of MoI Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs. The Campaign is being implemented by the Department of Security Media at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime minister and minister of Interior, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi media Company, Civil Society Institutions and their members, and other agencies concerned with community awareness. This phenomenon represents a grave security and social threat", added Al Shareefi.

"The phenomenon also is a dangerous health threat as illegal residents do not undergo medical tests. Anyone who employ or harbor them will be punished by he law. There should partnership with the civil society institutions and individuals to curb the phenomenon", added Al Shareefi.

Colonel (Engineer) Hussain Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of ADP Traffic and patrols Department, said about the illegal residents phenomenon" Their existence and spread on streets represents a great risk for traffic accidents. Most of they come from countries with traditional and undeveloped traffic systems. They are not aware of traffic rules and regulations. Thus they become victims of traffic accidents".

"Their presence without work to do encourages them to commit crimes such as car thefts, illegal market places, dealing in stolen spare parts etc. Traffic patrols and control police refer illegal residents who are arrested during traffic campaigns to the authorities concerned for further ction", added Al Harthi.

Lt. Colonel Mubarak bin Meheiroom, Director of The Community Policing Department said in the same context "Their illegal status represents a risk which it should be faced, especially in residential neighborhoods.
