Al Raisi: To facilitate communication with 200 nationalities in the country with their languages
ADP pays special attention to training in languages as it represents an investment in human resources. Language is a bridge of communication with other nations and it strengthens relations between nations and civilizations. It is a desired skill for policing and promotion of performance.
The Department of Training is in the process of preparing and designing a training programme for the Golden Triangle of ADP GHQ (The Department of Traffic and Patrols, Department of Passports and Residency and Airports). 80% of the public have dealings with these Departments. The programme will include all terms and expressions in use by each Department. The programme will cover all Departments in later stage.
Since 2007 ADP language skills have become available for ADP personnel to include in addition to the English language a number of most dominating languages such as the Chinese, Russian and Japanese languages.230 of ADP personnel have benefited from since last year. 77 of ADP personnel have gained new language skills.
There are some Departments which have direct contact with the public more than other Departments, such as CID, Correctional and Punitive Establishments, naturalization and Residency, Traffic and Licensing Departments and Airports.
At the end of the ceremony Al Raisi gave away certificates to the graduates. He urged them to work very hard to promote their performance. Colonel Anwar Al Mullah, Director of Information Technology, Major Fayssal Al Shamari, Office Director to the Director general of Central Operations, a number of officers and Suzan Sporr, Director of Jota Institute.
ADP normally organizes language courses locally and internationally for its personnel. The course continues for 6 months or one year. ADP also sends secondary school graduates abroad for university and language studies.
