Major General Nasser bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs (NRP) inaugurated the electronic training program in its first version released by the Emirates Institute of Citizenship and Residence.

Al Menhali stressed keen interest of Lieutenant General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior in supporting the Institute and making it a regional center.

He said, in a speech during the inauguration ceremony, we are keen that the Emirates Institute of Citizenship and Residence becomes a specialized institute that fills the educational, research and training gaps in the work of the naturalization, residence and ports, citing his ongoing efforts to improve the Institute through collaboration and partnership with national educational institutions and similar training institutions in developed countries.

He explained that the Institute completed the registration and accreditation procedures at the Abu Dhabi Education Council, and attracted a number of national and foreign experts to share their experience in capacity building.

The Institute, since its inception in 2010 has implemented as many as 174 training courses, attended by 3430 of employees of the NRP, he further noted.

In 2011, the Institute carried out 253 training courses, involving 5336 employees from various disciplines of the NRP operations.

The Institute entered into several partnership agreements with a number of local and international institutions, including agreements with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Training Academy, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) , as well as  agreement with the Institute of Studies and the Judicial Training at the Ministry of Justice, he said.

On the other hand, Major General Nasser Al Menhali attended a ceremony marking the completion of leadership course on “strategic thinking and creativity”, and the "Diploma training course" conducted by the Institute in collaboration with the ETTC.

He honored top achievers and presented certificates to the trainees who completed both courses.

He also honored the general directorates affiliated with the NRP including the coordinator general of NRP affairs, General directorate of ports and airports, general directorate of naturalization, the general directorates of residence and expatriates affairs across the country, the general directorate of resources and support services, and violators follow up and expatriates department.

He also honored the academic work team at the General directorate of Residency and Expatriates Affairs in Sharjah headed by Brigadier Abdullah Ali Bin Saho.

Honored also were strategic partners of the institute including (UNODC), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office, representative of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), Australia.

He also honored the instructors who contributed to the training programs at the institute, including, Colonel Ahmed Abdurrahman Al Noman, Lt Colonel Dr. Ali Hamad Al Sagheer, Major Dr. Khalfan Al Shamesi, Major Ali Eissa Zamzam and First Lt Mohammed Obeid Al Samn.
